Joe Guynes was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in northeast Texas until he relocated to New Jersey with his family when he was 14 years old. Joe was saved by the Lord at Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church of Sherman, Texas when he was eight years old. He finished high school in New Jersey and went on to attend Villanova University where he obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Accountancy. Upon graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Cathy, and they have just celebrated 40 years together. They have four grown children and six grandchildren with another on the way! After graduating from Villanova, Joe began a 30 year career with Johnson and Johnson and received an MBA degree from Xavier University during that time. He left J&J in late 2010 to be an executive pastor, serving in two large churches for approximately ten years. During his ministry tenure, Joe went on to study and receive a Master of Divinity degree from Knox Theological Seminary. Joe serves as the senior pastor and chairman of our Elder Board of The Redeemer’s Place.

Cathy is a New Jersey girl and was raised in the Dutch Reformed Church as a young girl. She was saved by the Lord as youngster as well. After graduating high school, Cathy went to Harcum College and pursued an associates degree in animal sciences which she used as a veterinary technician. But once, she started having children, Cathy devoted her life to raising her children seeing this as the most critical ministry for her during this stage of her life. Later on, after her kids were grown, Cathy completed a degree in Spanish with certifications in translation and interpretation and started a small English/Spanish education and translation business to support her equestrian habit and Crossfit habit. She is an accomplished Crossfit athlete in the Master’s level age group placing 33rd and 45th in the world for 2020 and 2021, respectively. Her knowledge of Spanish has also allowed her to lead the translation ministry at several churches to simultaneously translate the services from English into Spanish for those whose native language is Spanish. Cathy also oversees and co-leads our women’s ministry.

Daniel Young is 22 years old and originally comes from Lancaster California. He is the youngest of His family with one older sister, His mother, and His father. Daniel relocated to South Florida going into his 8th grade year, attended Cooper City High School, and shortly after was saved when He turned 15 years old. Daniel is currently pursuing His bachelors in Divinity through LAMP Theological Seminary. Daniel is a proud owner of an American Bulldog, and plays the drums outside of ministry is his absolute passion. Daniel will be responsible for the young adults, teenagers, and children’s ministry at The Redeemer’s Place.
